ABOUT the breeder
Hi! I’m Sarah, the breeder behind SJs Dachshunds.
My love for dogs started long before breeding, and over the years it grew into a passion for producing healthy, well-rounded longhair Dachshunds with amazing temperaments and beautiful coats. I am a sucker for long ears!!
My Primary focus is TEMPERMENT!!! Dachshunds have a tendency to be labeled as "aggressive" or "clingy". Issues like "separation anxiety" or "yappy". My dogs are none of those things. While other breeders may focus on the color or pattern of dogs they are producing- I am not.
At SJs Dachshunds, my focus is on quality over quantity, responsible breeding practices, and giving every puppy the best possible start in life.
I breed AKC longhair Dachshunds carefully pairing dogs based on health, temperament, genetics, and overall quality. My dogs are first and foremost family, and each puppy is raised with hands-on care, socialization, and attention from day one.
I also have an educational background in veterinary medicine, including experience in surgery, dentals, exams, etc. I also have a lot of experience in neonatal care, and puppy support. This knowledge has become incredibly valuable within my breeding program, especially during whelping and raising newborn puppies. I am experienced in bottle feeding, tube feeding, and neonatal support when needed, and I take pride in being prepared for every stage of puppy development.
My goal is not just to produce beautiful puppies, but to create lifelong companions that fit seamlessly into their new families. I strongly believe in educating puppy buyers, being transparent, and always doing what is best for my dogs.
